Naloxone will be available free in pharmacies

The province says it will make Naloxone available free of charge in pharmacies.

The drug is used as an antidote for opiate overdoses.

The Public Health Minister says police will also be able to administer the drug to people who need it.

The Health Minister says Quebec isn't facing a crisis yet, but says they're monitoring the situation and are concerned.

Public health officials say the powerful opiate fentanyl is responsible for 12 deaths in Montreal last month.
