No, the Olympic Stadium tower will not be transformed into a ski jump

The promoter behind a plan to create a "Big Air" ski jump event, using part of the Olympic Stadium's sloping tower as the jump has failed to find enough government funding for the project.

He had sought a $480,000 grant from the Quebec government, but the Journal de Montreal says the request was rejected even after the City of Montreal invested $230,000.

Most of that money was spent on studying the feasibility of using the stadium tower as a 120 meter ski jump.

The idea was first proposed as part of Montreal's 375th anniversary celebrations in 2017.

In rejecting the request a spokesman for the Municipal Affairs Ministry says it became apparent that no private sponsors had committed to the event.
