Norman Hardie wines booted from SAQ outlets

The SAQ is pulling from its shelves wines made by Norman Hardie, the celebrated vintner based in Prince Edward County, Ontario.

Hardie has been accused of sexual misconduct by a series of women, as detailed in The Globe and Mail.

In a statement following the initial reports of sexual touching and inappropriate comments, Hardie posted a statement on the winery's website acknowledging that while some of the allegations are false, many are true.  He said both he and the winery are taking steps to prevent a recurrence.

The SAQ says it is removing all remaining stocks of Hardie wines from its stores.

Liquor stores in Ontario are also saying they will not restock his products, after initially deciding to let their customers decide whether to buy his vintages.
