Not guilty plea in deadly St. Constant hit-and-run case
A 24-year-old St. Constant man pleaded not guilty Thursday in connection with a fatal hit-and-run incident which claimed the life of a toddler in May.
Two-year-old Dominique Wenga was struck and killed by a car on Rabelais St. in St. Constant on the morning of May 27. Police say he drove away from the scene.
The child had been playing in the backyard of his home, and disappeared from his parents' sight.
Modi lives a few doors down, and was arrested at his home on Wednesday morning.
If found guilty, he could face life in prison.
Modi returns to court on Friday for a bail hearing.
