Parliamentary Budget Officer again asking Revenue Canada to hand over data
Canada's Parliamentary Budget Officer says he has lost patience with the Canada Revenue Agency, in a years-long struggle to get some tax data.
Jean Denis Frechette wants to do an independent assessment of the tax gap - the difference between what the agency is owed and how much it ends up collecting.
He submitted his first request for data in 2012.
The Revenue Agency says it wants to proceed carefully because it is not supposed to share individuals' tax information.
Frechette tells La Presse he doesn't need names, just numbers.
He says if he doesn't receive the data by the end of the month, he'll take further steps which may include a complaint to Federal Court.
