Phone booth thief sentenced to 16 months in prison
A 48 year old man has been sentenced to 16 months in prison for a series of robberies and vandalism involving public telephones in Montreal and Laval.
Stéphane Sauvé was convicted on charges of theft and public mischief after being arrested in February.
Investigators say Sauvé was found to have broken into the coin boxes of 37 public telephones in Laval and 28 in Montreal.
Sauvé was found to have caused $ 109,000 in damages to the phones while managing to steal about $ 6,000.
