Plenty more roadwork to come, including on West Island, over next 3 years
Orange cone alert: the Quebec government has announced what you can expect to see in terms of roadwork between now and 2021, including lots of work on the West Island.
Quebec Transport Minister François Bonnardel and Minister Responsible for Montreal Chantal Rouleau announced at a morning news conference nearly $5B of roadwork for the three year period, with just over $955M in Montreal alone.
The previous Liberal government had invested just over a billion dollars for Montreal roadwork for 2018-2020; for the province, it was just over $4.8B.
This year and next, you can expect to see work on the Île-aux-Tourtes Bridge and the Dorval Interchange (mainly on Michel-Jasmin) and repaving of Decarie South between Highway 40 and Sherbrooke.

Most of the projects get underway next year with prep work beginning this year, including:
- road reconstruction on Highway 40 east between Morgan and St-Charles
- reconstruction of overpass at Highway 520 and 55th Avenue
- reconstruction of overpass at Highway 13 and Highway 40
- repair of overpass at Highway 20 and Sources
- road reconstruction on Highway 40 between Morgan and Anciens-Combattants
- repaving Highway 40 between Île-aux-Tourtes and St-Charles
Work on the Turcot revamp project continues and is on schedule.
Prep work begins on fixing up the Ville Marie and Viger tunnels and the Lafontaine Tunnel.
The ministers say that starting this year, they want things to be more transparent so the list of work projects and prep work will be posted to the ministry's website.
