Police arrest eight teenagers in connection with rash of St. Henri muggings
Montreal police appear to have solved a series of violent muggings last fall which left a section of the South West borough on edge.
Police arrested nine people, including eight minors, in a series of raids Wednesday.
They face a host of charges, including robbery, armed assault, aggravated assault, possession of stolen goods, and weapons charges, in connection with at least six armed robberies which took place between last November and last month near metro stations and bike paths in the neighborhood.
Six of them remain in custody as of Thursday afternoon.
Police had stepped up patrols in the area when the reports first surfaced. A spokesperson says they plan on maintaining those stepped-up patrols, despite the arrests.
