Police catch motorist doing 108km/h in a 50 zone in St. Laurent

Montreal police say they caught a motorist driving at double the posted speed limit on a stretch of Henri-Bourassa Blvd. in St. Laurent Thursday morning.

Traffic patrol officers for the West region caught the motorist at around 8:30 a.m. driving at 108 km/h in a 50 zone.

Police say the motorist's licence was suspended on the spot for a week. The motorist will also lose 10 demerit points and will also have to pay an $869 fine.

Two weeks ago, traffic cops in Dollard des Ormeaux pulled over an 18-year-old motorist driving at 116 km/h in a 50 zone on Sources Blvd.

That young man lost his car, 14 demerit points, and nearly $1,300 in fines.
