Police stepping up patrols for long weekend

Provincial police will be on the lookout for dangerous and intoxicated drivers this long weekend.

Sureté du Quebec will be out in full force this Victoria Day long weekend targeting speeders, people not wearing seatbelts, drivers using cell phones, and more.

Four people were killed in deadly collisions during the long weekend last year. More than 80 people were charged with impaired driving.

Cell phone use and driving under the influence of drugs or alcohol are the leading causes of fatal crashes in Quebec.
