PQ's Martine Ouellet announces Bloc Quebecois leadership candidacy

Maybe Martine Ouellet will have better luck with a federal party.

The PQ MNA has announced she's running for the leaderhsip of the Bloc Quebecois.

Ouellet, who made the announcement Sunday morning, has failed twice in her bid to become leader of the Parti Quebecois.

She said she would temporarily leave the PQ caucus in the National Assembly.

If she wins the leadership, she says, she'll stay a member of the National Assembly until she's able to run for a federal seat.

Her main goal, she added, is still Quebec independence.

"I want all of us to work together to give the sovereignist movement a new breath," she said.

"When we're mobilized, it's amazing what we can accomplish", Ouellet also said.

April 22nd is when the Bloc selects its new leader.
