"Prominent Montrealer" pays lunch for everyone at souvlaki restaurant, leaves message

You can only imagine the looks on customers' faces.

A benefactor, whose name is being kept secret, paid lunch Thursday for everyone at the Hippodrome location of Marathon Souvlaki.

Restaurant owner Perter Kristakis told the Aaron Rand show the good deed came with a message.

"He drew a cartoon and basically said be nice to strangers and to pay it forward. And in the picture he basically also said if you'd like to donate to the Starlight Foundation or Sun Youth", said Kristakis.

The Starlight Foundation, which helps very sick children and their families, tells CJAD 800 News it was told in advance about the gesture, that it knows the man who paid for all the meals.

"I known the gentleman well. I think it was just a testimony to his strong belief of the pay it forward mentality. He's a prominent Montrealer and does this often", said Brian Bringolf, president of the Starlight Foundation.

Among other things, Sun Youth gives clothes and food to the needy.
