The Bonjour-Santé website where you make medical appointments may be sued if a class action request is approved.
Hélène Bédard alleges that "illegal fees were charged to get a medical consultation covered by the Quebec health insurance board."
Bédard claims she paid almost $20 to get an appointment. She along with other Bonjour-Santé clients ended up waiting more than three hours in the doctor's office.
The lawyer in the case, Cory Verbauwhede, said that appointments made are already paid for and so billing patients means paying twice for the same service.
He said it's not only illegal but also abuse, seeing that the doctor is sometimes paid less than the fees charged for the consultation itself.
The president of Bonjour-Santé, Benoît Brunel said it appears to have been a mistake.
Brunel said the company doesn't charge to make an appointment but does charge when the patient asks them to look for available time slots in clinics.
Bonjour-Santé has already asked the courts to confirm the legality of this search service.
