Restaurant conglomerate swallows Casa Grecque

The Casa Grecque restaurant chain is getting a new owner.

It is being acquired by Laval-based MTY Food Group in a deal valued at $22 million.

There are 31 Casa Grecque franchises in Quebec. The deal includes the central kitchen and distribution centre they rely on.

Casa Grecque was founded 38 years ago by brothers Peter and Louis Berlemis.

MTY Group operates food businesses under dozens of brands, including the Mikes, Baton Rouge and Ben & Florentine restaurant chains, and a number of Montreal-area mall food court mainstays, including Sushi Shop, Tiki-Ming and Dagwood's.
