Reward offered for identifying sex assault suspect
Montreal police are asking for the public's help in looking for a suspect they believe was involved in two armed sexual assaults last July at a halfway house in the city's east end.
Police say the incidents took shortly after 10 p.m. on July 31, 2018 near the corner of Des Ormeaux St. and Souligny Ave. That night, two women were threatened by a man armed with a pistol.
They were also pepper-sprayed before the man fled on foot.
They describe the suspect as an English-speaking man in his 40s, who stands 5'8", with a thin build. He has brown eyes, and was wearing a ski mask, a short-sleeved tuquoise-colored horizontally striped shirt, faded jeans at the thighs and mesh running shoes with white laces.
The Sun Youth Organization is offering a reward of up to $5,000 to anyone providing information leading to the arrest and conviction of the man they're looking for.
Meanwhile, police will set up a command post at the corner of Des Ormeaux St. and Souligny Ave. on Thursday, between 7 a.m., and 2 p.m., in an effort to solve the crime.
Anyone with information on the suspect can also call 9-1-1, the Montreal police Info-Crime line at 514-393-1133 — or they're being asked to visit their local police station to make a detailed statement.
