Saint-Bruno couple wins $10 million Lotto Max jackpot
A South Shore is $10 million richer after winning the Lotto Max jackpot. They collected their big cheque at the Loto Quebec offices today.
David Beaudry admitted he was so surpised when he first checked his ticket that he asked his wife Nancy Calixte to double-check.
"He stood up and he said 'oh my God, oh my God,'" Calixte recalled.
"He's always playing jokes, anything is a joke for him," she explained, so she wasn't sure if she was being played, but she checked and the numbers matched the draw for the jackpot.
They immediately went to their local depanneur in Saint-Bruno-de-Montarville, where after checking a third time with the cashier, it dawned on them they were no millionaires.
"He said, 'give me back my ticket please,'" Calixte said, laughing, "and I said 'yes, yes, give us the ticket back' and then we went home to tell the kids that we won."
Beaudry and Calixte say they will retire from their jobs; he works at a chemical factory, she is a Desjardins employee.
They have no grand plans for their millions yet, but Calixte says her friends all enjoyed trips to Jamaica—and now she can afford to go too.
