School false alarm triggers massive police response
It was a heart-in-mouth situation for many parents of students at the Horizon-Soleil elementary school in Saint-Jérôme yesterday afternoon.
Just as classes were letting out, police received an emergency "Code Black" alert.
That tells them that teachers and students were locked down in their classes.
20 patrol cars raced to the school.
It was a false alarm, but the students and staff were kept in the building for about two hours while police carried out their checks.
Police believe that the problem was caused by a fault in the school telephone system.
