Seniors residence ad raises eyebrows

The owner of a senior's home in the Lower St-Lawrence River community of Trois-Pistoles says he was simply trying to drum up a little business when he took out an ad in the local paper this week.

But it's what he said that has upset so many people.

Roughly translated the bottom of the fold ad read " Following the death of a number of our clients, we have a number of rooms available at very good prices. We also take this occasion to offer our condolences to the families".

The owner of Villa des Basques Denis Lessard tells the Journal de Quebec that 13 of his clients have passed away since the beginning of January and he was simply trying to advertise the availabilities while acknowledging those who had passed away.
