Some EpiPen devices being recalled across Canada

Pfizer Canada Incorporated and Health Canada have announced a voluntary recall of certain EpiPens due to potential defects.

The recall affects EpiPen 0.3 mg strength devices with the lot number 5GU763 expiring in May 2017 as well as EpiPen Jr. devices with the lot number 5GR765 expiring in March 2017.

The defect could make the device difficult to activate in the event of an emergency. Pfizer says that while tests have not yet identified any units with a defect, the recall is being conducted across Canada as a precaution.

Anyone with an affected EpiPen can get a replacement at the pharmacy, and Pfizer says additional stock will be made available in the coming weeks to meet demand. Consumers can also contact Pfizer Medical Information at 1-800-463-6001. Those who experience adverse reactions or quality problems with their products can report them by calling 1-866-723-7111.
