St Jerome train line blocked in equipment derailment

Commuters who usually take the Saint Jerome train line into town will have to find alternatives this morning, the track is closed in both directions.

Caroline Julie-Fortin with the exo regional transit authority says early Thursday morning a piece of CP maintenance equipment derailed.

"There was a rail equipment from the CP that had a small problem on the St Jerome line, it derailed a little bit so the equipment can't move for now," says Fortin. "It should take a few hours before it can be moved."

All departures both inbound and outbound are on hold.  It could take several hours to clear the obstruction.

Commuters with valid train passes ride free today on Laurentians, Laval and Montreal bus and metro services.
