STM to release info to public on punctuality, user complaints — eventually
The Société de Transport de Montréal (STM) has agreed to release broad information about bus and metro punctuality, ridership rates, and user complaints, on a regular basis, following a motion tabled in council last week.
But, transit riders who want a clearer picture of where the system succeeds and where it fails will have to wait until 2021, a delay that some on Montreal City Council find unacceptable.
“My contention is they could do it yesterday,” said Marvin Rotrand, Cote-des-Neiges-NDG councillor for Snowdon.
The STM already informs its board members of key performance indicators on a monthly basis, according to Rotrand.
“There is nothing in the monthly report… that should be confidential, that should be a state secret,” he said.
The STM says it needs to gradually roll out its new open data policy in order to work out privacy and security concerns.
