Provincial police are investigating after a Saturday night shooting in Laval has left a 49-year-old man dead.
The shooting took place at the entrance of the Sheraton Hotel off Highway 15 around 10 p.m., Saturday.
CTV Montreal report that sources say the man has links to the Mafia.
Meanwhile, Journal de Montreal are identifying the deceased as 49-year-old Salvatore Scoppa, a man said to have links to Montreal's criminal underworld.
They say he had many enemies, including the Rizzuto family.
Adding, that a hooded gunman shot Scoppa, then got into a black Ford Explorer with an accomplice.
He was pronounced dead at the hospital.
A second person was taken to hospital and treated for trauma and shock.
Laval Police have transferred the investigation to the Surete du Quebec.
It is still ongoing.
