Tax evasion crackdown targets food trucks

Revenu Quebec will soon require food truck owners to use sales recording modules.

The devices are used to record all sales and ensure that GST and PST are collected.

40,000 devices have been installed across Quebec since 2010, including about 12,000 in bars and restaurants.

There are about 50 food trucks operating in the Montreal-area and about 100 across Quebec.

The Journal de Montréal says the program will come into effect next year and truck owners will be eligible for grants to help offset installation of the devices.
