The West Island gets its first superclinic
Health Minister Gaétan Barrette was in Pointe-Claire today to announce that the Stillview Family Medice Clinic, known more commonly as Statcare, is now officially the West Island`s first superclinic.
The superclinic title means that Statcare will be open longer hours, from 6:45 AM to 9 PM on weekdays and 6:45 AM to 7 PM on weekends. It will see at least 40,000 patients per year, mostly in the form of additional walk-in patients.
One of the main goals of the superclinic will be to allow the Lakeshore General Hospital across the street to funnel patients to them from the emergency room to help reduce wait times.
During the announcement, the Health Minister said that Quebecers are right to demand better from their healthcare system, and that super-clinics like this one should help address the problem of ER overcrowding and long wait times.
The superclinic is the 13th on the island of Montreal and the 30th in the province, with more soon to be announced.
