Trade union to politicians: we're watching you

One of Quebec's biggest trade unions is warning politicians it won't be silent this election year.

The Centrale des syndicats du Québec says it will be keeping an eye on politicans and will press them on labour commitments, hoping to see campaign promises that prioritize public services and alleviating social inequality.

The CSQ says the ruling Quebec Liberal Party already has a bleak record, with a “flagrant bias toward the private sector.”

The union also is urging the Couillard government to implement long-promised labour reforms, which the CSQ says should include an increase of the minimum wage to $15 an hour, plus an extra week of vacation.
