UPDATE: Impaired driving suspected in Sunday morning crash
A violent two-car collision sent two people to hospital early Sunday morning. Montreal Police said the accident happened around 3:30am on Pierre-Dupuy Avenue in Ville-Marie east, not far from the Old Port.
One of the vehicles veered from its lane and struck the other, sending a male driver to hospital with minor injuries, but his female passenger suffered serious head injuries and is said to be in critical condition.
The 30-year-old driver of the vehicle believed to have caused the collision was not injured, but he was arrested and taken to detention.
Police said the driver may have been impaired at the time.
Authorities later said he was released on a priomise to appear in court.
Late Sunday morning, police said area traffic was flowing normally again after setting up a perimeter to investigate what happened.
