UPDATE: Lacolle border crossing reopens in both directions following bomb threat
Things are getting back to normal at the Lacolle border crossing, after it had been shut down for much of the morning and early afternoon because of a bomb threat.
Police received the telephone threat at around 9 on Friday morning, forcing the evacuation of buildings at the border stations. Border traffic was rerouted on both sides of the border to smaller, adjacent border inspection stations.
Police searched the premises and didn't find a bomb. Border officials gave the all-clear a short time later.
The crossing — the second-busiest land crossing between Canada and the United States — goes between Lacolle, Que., and Champlain, N.Y.
