UPDATE: Montreal partially lifts water ban after toxic spill
The City of Montreal partially lifted a water ban for part of downtown Thursday night.
The original notice was sent out advising residents inside a 12-block area not to use their water, even if boiled, for any reason. A toxic spill in the afternoon led to fears of contamination.
Shortly after 11:30 P.M. the ban was lifted for everyone EXCEPT the following addresses:
- 443-445-447-449-451-453-455 Viger Ave. O.
- 454-456-470 de la Gauchetière St. O.
- 1030 St-Alexandre St.
Four people were taken to hospital, three others were treated by Urgences Sante after a cooling fluid from an air conditioning unit of a building at the corner of Viger Ave. and St-Alexandre St. spilled into an aqueduct.
