Vigil held for Daphné Boudreault
Hundreds of friends gathered outside of École Secondaire Ozias-Leduc in Mont-Saint-Hilaire to remember Daphné Boudreault Saturday night.
Friends of Boudreault described her as a wonderful person with a big heart. Marie-André Bondu helped organize the vigil, and says Boudreault was always ready to help others before herself.
The 18 year old was stabbed to death March 22nd. Her ex-boyfriend Anthony Pratte-Lops was arrested the same day Boudreault's body was found and has been charged with premeditated murder.
Quebec's Bureau des enquêtes indépendantes began an investigation into the murder last Thursday but conflicting reports have so far made it unclear into what exactly happened the day she was killed.
According to some accounts, a police officer assigned to accompany Boudreault to her home so she could collect her belongings showed up at the wrong address. Other reports indicate Boudreault had gone to police hours before her death, concerned for her safety with fears towards Pratte-Lops but was dismissed.
Boudreault's family will hold a service Sunday afternoon at a funeral complex in McMasterville.
