WATCH: Special Olympian from St-Laurent brings home gold at World Games
The champion returned home to applause, and a police detail.
Emile Baz won the gold in figure skating this month at the Special Olympics World Winter Games in Austria.
He was welcomed home at Trudeau Airport on Sunday—medals won around his neck—by friends and family, as well RCMP and Montreal police officers wanting to congratulate him.
Baz is no stranger to clinching victory when the stakes are high. He took home gold last year at the National Special Olympics in Newfoundland.
The Saint-Laurent native was diagnosed on the autism spectrum when he was seven years old.
He was the only figure skater on Team Canada that was in Austria representing Quebec.
