WATCH: St. Constant hit-and-run suspect free on bail
The 24-year-old man facing hit-and-run charges in connection with the death of a two-year-old boy in May is now free on $10,000 bail.
Rick Modi was released Friday morning after the Crown and defence agreed to a long list of conditions — among them, he is not allowed to be in the town of St. Constant, where both he and the family of his victim live.
He'll live with his parents while he's out on bail.
He also had his drivers' licence suspended and must turn over his passport.
On the morning of May 27, Modi was driving along Rabelais St. — the street on which he lives — when he struck two-year-old Dominique Wenga who was playing outside his family's home. He had disappeared from his parents' sight while playing in the backyard.
The driver did not stop to help the injured toddler.
Modi's next court date is on Sept. 5.
