WATCH: Suspected street race leads to violent crash in Pierrefonds

Police were at the scene of a suspected street race in Pierrefonds for several hours during the overnight into Thursday following a violent crash that scattered piles of vehicular debris across Gouin Blvd. near Le Boulevard.

Montreal police Const. Raphael Bergeron says the car was heading west when the driver lost control and the car flipped, crashing into the side of the road and spewing debris into the street.

Witnesses say the white sedan was racing another car at high speeds when the driver crashed.

A business owner nearby said in order to reach and rescue the driver, the crashed car had to be flipped back upright.

The two occupants, a man and woman both in their 20s, were taken to hospital with minor injuries and are in stable condition.

Police closed Gouin Blvd. from LaLande Blvd. to 1st Ave. to investigate the incident.
