WATCH: West Island school shows solidarity with residents of Humboldt

A West Island elementary school is showing solidarity with the residents of Humboldt, Saskatchewan who lost 15 members of their community in a fatal road accident Friday involving a truck and a bus carrying the town's junior hockey team, the Humboldt Broncos.

Staff and students of Clearpoint Elementary in Pointe Claire wore sports jerseys to school, collected donations and created colourful cards and posters with messages such as, "Broncos strong."

"You can't help but be moved," said principal Rachel Wilson.

Other Lester B. Pearson School Board schools are expected to organize a Jersey Day Thursday in what's hoped to be a nationwide event.

"To let the the Humboldt Broncos' families know that everyone's behind them and we're with them," said Wilson.
