When will they clean up the old Linguini restaurant on the 40?
If you drive into town along highway 40 in Baie D'urfe, you might be wondering when if ever the rubble that once was Restaurant Linguini will ever be cleaned up.
The popular restaurant burned down more than two years ago, but it still looks as if the blaze happened yesterday.
A pair of charred chimney stacks are all that's really left standing. The rest is splintered wood and twisted metal.
Commenters on the popular West Island Community Facebook group are calling the rubble an eyesore, and once again asking what is taking the clean up so long?
"We are waiting for a date from the courts to proceed with the permission to go on site the private property and do the cleanup," Baie D'Urfe spokesperson Susan Stokley told CJAD 800.
She says after years of missed deadlines and unpaid fines, the city had no choice but to bring the matter before a judge.
CJAD 800 has not been able to contact the owners of the restaurant, but in the past they have said the delays are due to unresolved disputes with their insurance company.
