Wine is getting cheaper, again
If you enjoy a glass of wine or two at the end of a long day, you'll be happy to know your next purchase will be cheaper than the last.
The Société des alcools du Québec (SAQ) announced it would again drop the price on 1,600 of its most popular bottles of wine by 50 cents. This is the third time since November the wines have had their prices cut, bringing the total savings now to $1.40.
President and Chief Executive Officer Alain Brunet said continued efforts to reduce operating costs have allowed the crown corporation to further reduce the cost to consumers.
The union representing SAQ employees wonders if the savings are worth it.
By the end of March Quebec's liquor sales company will cut 10 per cent of its workforce, 190 jobs, at its head office and two distribution centers.
