Woman dead after being found outside seniors' home
For the third time this year authorities are investigating the death of an elderly person who was found outside a seniors' residence.
On Wednesday morning a 75-year-old woman was found unconscious outside the Les Pleiades semi-autonomous residence on Sainte Julie St. in Montreal East.
She was rushed to hospital in critical condition but was later pronounced dead.
Officials said she died of hypothermia. Temperatures overnight Tuesday into Wednesday dipped to about two degrees.
The CIUSSS de l'Est-de-l'Île-de-Montréal has launched an internal investigation.
Back in January, the mother of former Bloc Québécois leader Gilles Duceppe, Hélène Duceppe, was found dead of hypothermia outside her seniors' home in Mercier-Hochelaga-Maisonneuve. In March the body of a 90-year-old man was found outside a seniors' home in Vaudreuil.
