    Hillhurst Sunnyside Community Association - Calgary
    Julia's challenging Journey .Fighting Cerebral Palsy and her dream to walk. There will be a team that will be selling a book on Julia's journey, and stylish headbands for $10 each, with 100 percent of the proceeds going towards Julia's dream to walk. The team will be at the Hillhurst Sunnyside Community Association from 8:00am - 3:00pm every Sunday from now until Sunday December 17th
  • Cervical Cancer Awareness Week

    October 16-20
    • Did you know that up to 90% of cervical cancer can be PREVENTED by a simple screening test like a pap smear? Compare that to only 20% reduction in breast cancer mortality with mammograms • there has been a change recommendations as to when to start screening and screening intervals for pap smears in Alberta. Are you up to date on new Alberta screening guidelines? • the Calgary screening rate is only 64.3% and much less than the provincial target of 80% • once women know they SHOULD go for a pap, they may not know WHERE to go. Barriers such as language, gender, culture or otherwise not having a comfortable place to have paps done can prevent women in having this simple test done. Are your listeners aware of all options as to where they can have a pap smear completed? The Northeast Calgary Women's Clinic is an award winning not-for-profit clinic that is dedicated to quality women's health care and education. In the past 10 years we have served almost 50,000 women in Calgary who experience language, gender and cultural barriers to having paps done or other women's health issues addressed. Help us to help women in Calgary access cervical cancer screening and meet the targets of 80%!
  • Kinsmen Club of Stampede City presents "Deadly Illusions"

    For one week between October 20 and October 28, the Kinsmen Club of Stampede City and the Confederation Theatre Society will be sponsoring a production of "Deadly Illusions". A thriller with all proceeds in support children's charities, including the Boys & Girls Club and Big Brothers & Big Sisters Calgary. "Many of the classic illusions are described as death defying but sometimes you can not defy death. When the Great Boudin, illusionist extraordinaire, attempts to demonstrate that bodies can disappear, his unfortunately does not. But murderers sometime slip up and it is the job of the plodding Inspector Sorochan to solve the murder. He does not believe in illusions, but then again, he does not believe in murder either."   • Greek Ladies of Philoptochos Bazaar

    The Greek Ladies of Philoptochos is a non-profit charitable organization dedicated to helping those in need. The annual bazaar is their biggest fundraiser of the year. It features a wide variety of desserts and food and gives the public a taste of Greek culture while helping to raise money for charity.We invite you to come and enjoy home-made authentic Greek food and desserts along with crafts and entertainment. You can eat in or take it to go. Admission is $2 and it includes a coffee and home-made pastry. Children under 12 are free.
