  • Junior Lifeguard Club

    The City of Peterborough, Recreation Division is offering an exciting lifesaving program this summer. The Junior Lifeguard Club will be offered at Beavermead Beach to youth interested in Lifeguarding Skills, First Aid and Fitness! Participants must be able to tread water for two minutes and swim 25 meters in deep water to register.The Junior Lifeguard Club (JLC) is for quick learners, those between levels and those that thrive in an energetic learning environment. Participants will experience the skills and even some of the thrill of lifesaving and lifeguarding! The JLC is not like your standard swimming lessons, its all about your personal best and a sense of belonging. Enjoy your summer and become part of the Junior Lifeguard Club. Sundays, July 9 to August 13 10:00 am to 10:45 am. Ages 9-11 and 12-15. Call the Recreation Division at 705-742-7777 ext. 1873 (Mon to Fri, 8:30 am to 4:30 pm) to register by phone. Stop by the Recreation Division (City Hall) at 210 Wolfe Street and register in person. Advanced Registration is required! Spaces are Limited!

  • Large Article Pick-Up - June 26

    For a fee, the City will pick up items larger than the weekly allowance, such as furniture and appliances. The cost for this service is $15.00 for the first item and $5.00 for any additional item. Please note that mattresses and box springs are $15.00 each and do not count as a first item. Schedule your pick up using the City’s on-line tool at www.peterborough.ca. Under “Online Services” select “Large Article Collection”. Select the collection date you prefer, the items you want collected and set up an account with your credit card for payment. Or, in person at City Hall, 500 George Street North or the Public Works Office at 182 Townsend Street. For more details, please call the City Waste Management Division at 705-742-7777 extension 1657. Next large pick-up is July 24th.
