Chatham-Kent's International Plowing Match say the event went "without a hitch".

That is the summary of a report presented to council on Monday.

Organizers reported nearly 78,000 people took-in the four day event in September despite some inclement weather.

The summary also shows about 25,000 people popped into the municipal showcase tent to find out more about Chatham-Kent.

About 200 employees were involved in the IPM planning and preparation.

Some team members surveyed visitors and 49 per cent of respondents were from outside Chatham-Kent.

The report also shows the municipality saved about $34,000 because of lower than expected costs for the municipal tent, utilities and police coverage.

Council also heard the 2018 IPM generated at least $3 million for the local economy.
