Ryan Adams Subject Of FBI Probe: Report

The FBI is investigating online conversations between Ryan Adams and an underage fan, according to The New York Times.

The probe was sparked by a report in the Times this week alleging that the singer communicated with a female, identified only as Ava, when she was between the ages of 14 and 16. They allegedly had sexually explicit conversations and video chats.

The Times said it reviewed more than 3,000 text messages between Adams and Ava as well as screen grabs from Skype conversations in which the singer exposed himself.

The report said Adams frequently asked Ava to prove she was 18 and that Ava told him she was older than she was.

According to the Times, agents from the FBI's Crimes Against Children Squad will seek to interview the women, who is now 20, and obtain evidence.

An FBI spokesperson declined to comment to the Times on Thursday. A lawyer representing Ava also declined to comment.

Adams’ lawyer Andrew B. Brettler previously said his client "unequivocally denies that he ever engaged in inappropriate online sexual communications with someone he knew was underage."

Adams tweeted: “I would never have inappropriate interactions with someone I thought was underage. Period.”
