AJ McLean has gone country again.
The Backstreet Boys singer recently showed off his soulful Americana side with a cover of Chris Stapleton's alcoholic hymnal "Drunkard's Prayer" off the latter's 2017 album From A Room: Volume 2.
“Been performing this one lately and wanted to share with all of you guys,” McLean wrote in the video's YouTube description. “Such an incredible song from Chris Stapleton.”
This isn't the singer's first foray into country music. BSB partnered with Florida Georgia Line for "God, Your Mama and Me" last year, and McLean has said he's been working on a solo project that's inspired by the "Nashville sound." In June he released the single "Back Porch Bottle Service."
"Out of all genres, country is probably now one of my favourites,” he told ET on the ACM Awards red carpet in April. “It's all about telling a story; every song is so relatable to anyone, but my goal is a little different. I want to come in and I want to disrupt country. I want to shift. I want to shake things up just like FGL did.
“So you guys are in for a treat.”
