CBC won't confirm Bernardo TV series

The CBC says it never comments on a story that is still in the formative stages.

Chuck Thompson, Head of Public Affairs for CBC's English Services responding to the proposed Fifth Estate series on serial killer and rapist Paul Bernardo.

Thompson says 'the bar for any story CBC News does must meet the public interest.'

Politicians have been expressing outrage that the CBC is thinking of filming a TV series about the St.Catharines' natives crimes.

St.Catharines MP Chris Bittle and Mayor Walter Sendzik asking the publicly funded agency to put a stop to it.

 

Some residents on social media say opponents of the idea are hypocrites, pointing to the success of Netflix documentaries featuring serial killers.
