BCSPCA unveils plans for West Kootenay Community Animal Centre in Castlegar

Plans have now been unveiled for the new BCSPCA West Kootenay Community Animal Centre in Castlegar.

The new 4,600-square-foot facility,  will include designated areas for temperament and behaviour assessments and specialized isolation areas for sick and injured animals, as well as a multi-purpose space that can be used for things like dog training, and SPCA youth camps.

It will be located at 124 Heritage Way west of the airport.

Land for the West Kootenay Animal Centre was donated by the City of Castlegar and the society also received a contribution of $250,000 from the CBT.

The province has also designated 9-hundred thousand dollars for the facility, but officials say the SPCA needs to raise an additional $150,000 from community donations to complete the project.
