City of Nelson hearing a few concerns about new garbage bylaws
The City of Nelson has received nearly 300 phone calls and e-mails from citizens after making changes to garbage collection to mitigate the impact of heavy and repetitive lifting for workers.
Most of the concerns were about animals getting into garbage if the bags aren't put into bins when being set out on garbage day which is one of the new changes.
However, Director of Public Works and Utilities, Colin Innes, says it hasn't been a big issue so far.
Innes says they'll do another week of public education and then see if there are any further recommendations to council.
