Crews continue to fight wildfire southwest of Salmo
BC Wildfire Crews continue to fight the McCormick Creek Fire, in the Pend D'Oreille area, 20 km's southwest of Salmo.
At last word, the blaze was roughly 100 hectares in size, and it's burning in steep terrain close to power lines.
Firefighters, air tankers, helicopters and heavy equipment are on site.
The 23 residential properties in the area remain on evacuation alert.
The Village of Salmo has established a Level 1 Emergency Operations Centre as a precautionary measure to monitor, collaborate and communicate with emergency management stakeholders.
At this time, the Shambhala Music Festival is not under any Evacuation Alert or Evacuation Order, however the RDCK is working with festival organizers and the RCMP in the event that an evacuation becomes necessary.
Over 10-thousand people will be on site for Shambhala.
Meanwhile the cause of the wildfire is under investigation.
