ICBC out with new Road Safety Campaign

A 23 percent jump in the number of crashes across BC over the past few years, has ICBC out with a new campaign.

Road Safety Program Manager Mark Millner says the increase is what's driving rates up, and there are various reasons for the jump  including distracted driving.

ICBC did a survey with most drivers saying that driving in the province has gotten worse in the last 5 years, pointing at bad driving behaviours.

The survey also found that most respondents considered themselves to be good drivers, despite the fact 18 percent admitted to being aggressive behind the wheel, and 78 percent incorrectly answered road test questions.

Their new road safety campaign is to encourage all drivers to reflect on their driving habits, including how we behave behind the wheel, and knowledge of rules of the road.
