New Building Canada Funds for 2nd phase of Nelson's Hall Street Project

The City of Nelson has received 4.4-million dollars in funding for the second Phase of their Hall Street project, from the New Building Canada Fund Program.

The total cost is roughly 6.6 million dollars, the city will pay a third.

Director of Public Works and Utilities Colin Innes says the project will help deal with flooding at the intersection of Front and Hall Street.

Innes anticipates construction will start sometime this year.

Nelson also received 150-thousand dollars in Emergency Preparedness Funding from the province last week to use towards flood risk assessment, flood plain mapping and flood mitigation.
