RDCK Area E Director happy with support in referendum
RDCK Area E Director Ramona Faust is happy with the turnout and support for the Balfour Water System Upgrade and Universal Metering Project Referendum.
A total of 174 eligible constituents cast their votes with 88 percent of voters are in support of the borrowing.
She says the work would have had to be done anyway's, and it would have cost a lot more money without the funding from the Feds and the Province.
They're borrowing 583-thousand dollars, while the Province and Feds are chipping in 2.8 million as part of the clean water and wastewater fund grant.
Project work is expected to get under way quickly, there's a March 31, 2019 deadline to have it done.
