Request for proposals out for paving at the Trail Regional Airport

The City of Trail has issued a request for proposals when it comes to the rehabilitation of the existing airfield pavements at the Trail Regional Airport.

Airport Manager Robert Baker says they have a budget of $4.6 million, thanks to grant funding from the Airports Capital Assistance Program.

A plan of construction operations has been developed and approved by Transport Canada, and it's meant to minimize disruption at the airport.

They're planning for the work to be done at night, in stages.

A mandatory site meeting is scheduled for next Thursday at 2 for prospective bidders.

Meanwhile the work coincides with the construction of the new Airport Terminal building, which is also set to be complete later this year.

Baker says the improved runway means longer take-off and landing distances and the new terminal means better service, improved amenities and more convenience for travelers.
