Search for missing teacher in Crawford Bay suspended

The Search for the missing teacher in Crawford Bay has been suspended.

Creston RCMP say the search for Alvin Dunic was suspended yesterday afternoon, following 7 days of extensive search efforts.

Over the weekend, a total of 14 search and rescue teams, with 87 technicians from across the province had joined the search, with local teams joined by teams from as far away as Princeton, and Sparwood.

There were also 60 community volunteers from the Crawford Bay area searching on the weekend, organized by the school district and Crawford Bay school.

The search also involved fixed wing aircraft and a helicopter, a police service dog, and an underwater recovery team.

The levels in Crawford Creek will be closely monitored over the coming days, and further search efforts will be re-assessed.

The Creston RCMP and RCMP Victim Services continues to provide support to Alvin's family and the affected community.
